Do you need an oil change? If you grab any and every cooking oil off the shelf
at you local grocery store you probably do. Most of the oils available at grocery stores are toxic
and undigestable according to "The Great American Health Hoax" by Raymond Francis the latest book I have been reading.
This is just one of many details from the book. The most important take away from the book in
my opinion is the way the author distills good and and bad health down to one disease and 2 causes.
Malfunctioning Cells the Only Disease
"How is this for simplicity? There is only one disease. Once you understand there is only one disease it takes the
complexity out of disease. This simple concept of one disease puts the power over disease into your hands.

Two Causes of Disease
"There are only two causes of cellular malfunction, and therefore, only two causes of disease: deficiency and toxicity."
from Chapter 3 as well.
This one chapter and these 2 quotes alone have given me clarity on the subject of health like nothing else I have
ever read.
You are either in good health because you are getting all the nutrients(#1) you need and are not ingesting
alot of toxins(#2) or you are in bad health because you are lacking nutrients and or are ingesting too many toxins.
Sugar is Bad for Everything and Other Foods to Avoid
The book talks about foods to avoid and foods to eat. According to the author the number one food to avoid is sugar.
The book has some lists regarding functions of the body and sugar is bad for almost all of them. There are other
foods to avoid but sugar stands above them all.
Other foods mentioned to avoid are wheat, processed oil, excessive dairy and meat, excess salt, glutamates, GMOs, alcohol
and excessive coffee.
What to Eat
In the authors opinion the choice is simple. Eat to build your cells not to entertain yourself.
Eat primarily fresh plant foods with a goal of 80% raw organic, juice or blenderize vegetables daily, quality omega-6 and
omega-3 oils including coconut, flaxseed and olive oils, limit coffee and alcohol.
Take Quality Supplements
Due to depleted soils supplements are a neccesity.
Supplements mentioned in the book are CoQ10, Zinc, Magnesium, Selenium, B vitamins, vitamin D, Vitamin E,
Acetyl L-Carnitine, and Curcumin.
Medicine
The author almost died because of prescription medication. After he was bounced around several times by several
specialists and nearly died because of a badly prescribed medication, he realized he needed to figure it out on his own.
With inspiration from another author who had saved himself using vitamin C, He regained hope and motivation and began
a vitamin C regimen and further research. Some specific medications he mentions not to use are statins, blood thinners,
baby aspirin, and vaccines. The author does not believe any prescription medications do anything but suppress symptoms.
Final Take Aways
The book brought a fresh and welcome simplification to health I was looking for. He details several things very clearly
and I will be rereading it to further clarify my understanding.
